Gramophone has recently described Christopher's recording of Rinaldo, "the first complete studio recording for over 20 years", as "irresistible" with a "deluxe" cast. It praises his "typically neat and well-mannered" direction as well as his "unerring sense of tempo" throughout the opera.

The review concludes: "for all-round standard of performance and production [this version] currently wins hands down and it will take some beating."
